Our story
Our Listening Compass
Roversaga Tune Whistle began with a simple habit: whistling a few bars of whatever we heard on the road, then realising those bars brought whole journeys back years later.

Who We Are
We are a small independent team of travellers, amateur musicians and music teachers based on the Kent coast in England. We are not affiliated with any tourism board, record label or cultural institution, and we don’t accept payment to feature destinations.
Four Compass Points
- North · Attribute. Name composers, collectors and performers where known; say “origin uncertain” where it is.
- East · Locate. Identify real places accurately and never invent cultural associations for a photo or tune.
- South · Listen first. Teach pitch and attention before speed or showmanship.
- West · Separate. Keep documented traditions distinct from our personal practice exercises.
How We Research
We draw on published tune collections, academic work on whistled languages and acoustic ecology, UNESCO intangible heritage records, and conversations with musicians. We cite sources in context notes and revise pages when better information arrives.
